What?
Animoto is an app that allows you to take pictures and compile them into a visual slideshow. The app is very easy to use and you can even pair the slideshow with music that could go along with it. In class we had to create our own Animoto to present our lives in some interesting way. Pictures could have been taken from any place which made life simple. I used Instagram, Facebook, and the camera feature to upload my photos of choice. You can also write words that aligned with the pictures in the slideshow. For my project, I decided to create a show that displayed my life from day 1 to present time.
So What?
ISTE NETS*T Standard 3. C. Communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital age media and formats.
Presenting projects or presenting information to a group can be nerve wrecking and hard for do for many students. By allowing students the opportunity to bring their presentation together through Animoto, their presentation will be displayed in an engaging and different way. This program would be easy for many students to use, however, some may need more guidance and modeling than others.
Now What?
Animoto could be used in some many interesting ways in the classroom. The first way that pops into my mind would be for me in the beginning of the school year when I am presenting to the class information about myself. I also could use this at back to school night to introduce myself to parents. I also feel like I could use this app during reading instruction. This would be an engaging way for students to take what they read and sequence story events together into a slideshow with captions. This would also be a fun way in Math to present ways of how to solve problems in class.
